The New Acura TLX Gets Back To Performance

Acura has put its focus back on performance with its new 2018 TLX. The Japanese automaker has refreshed its midsize performance luxury sedan significantly. It now offers more standard features as well as a sporty new A-Spec version for V-6 models. In the highly competitive midsize performance luxury sedan segment Acura’s TLX is still a great choice. Acura has given the 2018 TLX an entirely new front end. The old grille has been replaced by a dynamite stylish new diamond pentagon grille that gives the TLX a strong, athletic look. Stand close and you’ll see its cool spider web pattern.

The TLX’s new look is part of Acura’s plan as it returns to the precision performance roots that made the company a hit with motorists. Officials from Acura explained that to journalists in Kentucky for the company’s launch of the newest version of the TLX, the top-selling Acura car and among the company’s most important automobiles. Acura’s vice president and general manager John Ikeda told the crowd the company is once again focusing on being a performance brand and to be seen as a performance brand, the vehicles need to have a performance look. And, if you want to check out an Acura and take one for a spin, head on down to Chapman Acura.

Those designers at Acura, under pressure to create a new, more attractive front-end for their cars, can now relax a little. The new look they created, based on Acura’s 2015 Precision concept, is great. The new A-Spec trim is designed to up the TLX sport ante significantly, and it does. It has a matte black grille surrounded with chrome, a rear diffuser, exclusive badging and 19-inch gray wheels. Lead TLX product planner Jonathon Rivers said the brand’s new A-spec variant offers Acura’s customer base a completely new option.

Every 2018 TLX model comes with AcuraWatch standard. This collection of sophisticated safety technologies includes forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control and road departure mitigation. That means 70% of all the Acura vehicles sold will now have AcuraWatch.

Plus, the Acura SH-AWD system is both available and recommended.

The 2018 TLX’s interior, with its clean lines and high-end detailing, is very nice.
