Acura TLX Returns To Its Performance Roots For 2018

Acura has long had a reputation for producing cars that perform exceptionally well. With the 2018 mid-sized TLX luxury sedan, Acura is back to its high-performance roots. Not only is this new TLX a peak performer, Acura has also significantly refreshed its look and added more standard features as well. Plus, the Japanese automaker has given people that want the V6 model of the 2018 Acura TLX the option to choose a sporty new A-Spec trim. These new changes and Acura’s reputation for making sweet-handling cars that deliver great gas mileage and superior performance should keep the 2018 TLX near the top of its highly competitive segment.

The front end of the 2018 Acura TLX looks entirely different. They have gotten rid of the old Acura grille and replaced it with a cool-looking diamond pentagon grille. Look closely and you’ll even notice a spider web pattern. On the new V6 Spec A trim, the grille is matte black with a chrome surround. Add 19-inch grey rims, exclusive badging and a rear diffuser and it all comes together to give the 2018 Acura TLX a strong, athletic look. These are all elements that Acura is using in an effort to get back to the performance roots from which it developed its sterling reputation. If you are sold on Acura, check one out at Chapman Acura. With the release of the redesigned 2018 Acura TLX, the company is taking its lineup to an entirely new level. The new Acura TLX comes with the AcuraWatch sophisticated safety technology. That includes forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation and lane keep assist. By adding this excellent safety suite to the new Acura TLX, this means that about 70% of all the automobiles in the Acura lineup will now have their AccuraWatch technology. This should help anyone buying most Acura models to feel even safer.

The 2018 Acura TLX comes with two different powertrains. One of them has a 206 horsepower, 2.4-liter, inline-4 engine which delivers 182 pound-feet of torque mated with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission that has paddle shifters. The other is a 290 horsepower, 3.5-liter, V6 engine which produces 267 pound-feet of torque joined with a 9-speed automatic transmission which also utilizes paddles shifters. Both these vehicles have the available Acura SH-AWD system and its recommended buyers get it. They make the 2018 TLX confident and sure-footed and gives it lots of passing power even on hilly, twisting roads.

The new TLX has a nice interior layout with clean lines coupled with high-end detailing. It includes a dual screen layout with navigation that makes checking all your systems easier. Plus there’s a new infotainment system that features Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto. There’s also 37.2 inches of headroom in the front, 36.7 inches of rear headroom and 34.5 inches of rear-seat leg room. With the 2018 Acura TLXs increased standard safety features and their new driver assistance features, it is an excellent value starting at $33,000 for the 2.4-liter and $36,200 for the V6.
