A Look At The 2019 Acura RDX

Acura is set to create an all-new look for the 2019 RDX and many think the changes will make it better able to compete with the German-made automobiles in its class. This third-generation RDX is being closely guarded by Acura, but experts say the changes will be revolutionary. They anticipate there being a new grille, new engines and a reworked interior based on the changes that the company has made to the MDX and the TLX.

Based on spy shots and educated speculation, the reworked 2019 Acura RDX will look dramatically different. It will probably have some iteration of the Jewel-Eye headlights, sleek looking unique LED strips and a diamond pentagon grille that’s slightly larger than the one on the new MDX. Larger corner vents featuring long LED fog lights, wide-mouth air dams to better cool the transmission and radiator, muscular front wheel-wells and rear wheel-wells that are flush with the body giving the hood a taller appearance, are all changes hinted at by the spy photos. While you can’t currently take a 2019 Acura RDX for a spin, you can check out many others at Chapman Acura. There are plenty of Acura RDX models to take a look at.

Very mild body lines, a rounded, very slight lower body crease and a shaper line on the bottom above the side skirts to add character, are all anticipated changes on the 2019 Acura RDX. Spy shots show a large circular opening that hints the rear quarter glass will be larger and taller than on previous models. This will create a rear end that more squared, a longer rear hatch and a short rear fascia. Exhaust outlets placed deep in the corners and a major horizontal body line just below new LED matrix taillights which dominantly wrap around toward the rear quarters, complete the exterior.

Industry experts anticipate a completely revamped interior. The hope is the 2019 Acura RDX will have a single, bigger, tablet-like display that integrates HVAC controls. This would create a clean-looking, stylish dash with only a few buttons. More soft-touch surfaces throughout and leather on the top dash and sections of the door trim will make the interior look richer is another educated-guess for the new RDX’s interior. The higher-end models should have leather upholstery all over. Expect a new center console, updated instrument cluster, redesigned shifter and a new steering wheel. The higher-end models may go all digital, while lower-end models will probably get two analog gages with a larger TFT display in-between.

Some suspect that Acura will use some variation of a 2.0-liter engine on the next-generation RDX. Downsizing should produce better gas mileage and by saving a little weight, it could use a 290 horsepower, V6 engine and get 270 pound-feet of torque for a power upgrade. While current Acura RDX models primarily come with front-wheel drive, experts predict the 2019 version will also offer rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive models for better driving dynamics. Look for a larger gearbox too, as well as active engine mounts, an improved steering system and active suspension.

Expect the starting price to be about $39,000 with options that can add a few thousand. That’s what experts envision for the next-generation Acura RDX.
