2019 Acura RDX Revealed In Sportier A-Spec Trim

Acura chose the 2018 New York Auto Show as the place to reveal the final production version of its 2019 RDX. The company unveiled a sportier A-Spec trim of the 2019 Acura RDX as well. Built on a brand new chassis, the 2019 RDX is powered by a 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder 272 horsepower VTEC engine that delivers 280 pound-feet of torque. It works in flawless combination with the luxury compact crossover class’ first ever 10-speed automatic transmission. Plus, the 2019 Acura RDX also has Super Handling All-Wheel Drive as well as sport-tuned MacPherson struts in the front-end and optional adaptive dampers making it more laterally potent than ever.

It has creature comforts like a large panoramic moonroof, 16-way adjustable seats and a drive mode selector inspired by the NSX. Plus, the 2019 Acura RDX has an entire suite of both active and passive safety assists and alerts. The vehicle also features a 10.2 inch touchscreen controller that Acura calls True Touchpad. It’s CarPlay-ready and you can use your finger to control the system. The RDXs A-Spec version has black exterior trim, darker headlights, LED fog lamps, 20-inch smoked wheels, bigger exhaust tips and a more aggressive chin. Inside the A-Spec there are Ultrasuede sport seats with special stitching, leather-wrapped sport steering wheel, a red-themed gauge cluster and real aluminum trim pieces. To see what you are missing, you can check one out at Chapman Acura. While a 2019 Acura RDX may not be available yet, you can check out a 2018 Acura RDX.

Acura calls the 2019 RDX the most luxurious, best handling, quickest RDX ever. The company’s latest version of SH-AWD has a more complex mechanical differential which provides the rear axel with vector power. It helps provide improved handling and performance. This is the most extensive changes Acura has made to the RDX in over 10 years. The 2019 Acura RDX’s wheelbase is 2.6 inches longer, it has a new chassis architecture and body. The floor has more compartmentalized storage and they have increased the cargo space behind the seats in the second row. Even Acura’s signature ‘Jewel Eye’ headlights has increased its LED lighting elements from five to seven.

The Japanese automaker says the 2019 RDX signals the beginning of a new era. One in which Acura will deliver automotive design and performance that will give the brand more prestige and elevate it to a higher position in the fast-growing luxury market. Acura says the 2019 RDX’s extensive redesign is a reimagining of the vehicle around the company’s Precision Crafted Performance focus. Its new infotainment interface, True Touchpad, introduces the car’s next-generation system. The sportier, more performance-oriented RDX A-Spec with its interior upgrades and unique exterior is sure to turn heads.

The final production-version of third-generation Acura RDX crossover SUV displayed at the 2018 New York Auto Show, with its touchpads, turbos and torque vectoring, retains most elements of the prototype the company previewed at the Detroit Auto Show in January. The 2019 Acura RDX will begin hitting showroom floors later this year. To bolster its ‘go-fast’ street cred the new RDX will be the official pace car at the automotive event in Pikes Peak this June.
