Only Brand to Earn Five Stars Across Model Line

When every single car you produce earns a 5-star rating for safety, the commitment to the health and welfare of your customers is obvious. Acura has not only earned the 5-star mark for all its vehicles from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration New Car Assessment Program, but it also gets the Top Safety Pick + award for all cars from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. “At Acura, safety has been a part of our engineering culture and DNA since the inception of the brand nearly 30 years ago, something affirmed by these industry-leading safety ratings,” according to Jon Ikeda, vice president of Acura. You can view the entire lineup of vehicles and discuss why they are so safe by visiting your Acura in Tucson dealer, Chapman Acura.

First Achieved Dual Excellence Award in 2009

Acura was the first automaker ever to receive top safety marks from both the IIHS and NHTSA in 2009. Acura was also the first to bring autonomous driver assistance features to the U.S. marketplace in 2006. With AccuraWatch, the company has a variety of sensor and camera-driven technologies that help driver see obstacles in blind spots and also provide automatic assistance to avoid collisions. “Looking ahead, our research in advanced automated driving technology has the potential to help realize our dream of a collision-free mobile society, perhaps within the next few decades,” said Chuck Thomas, Acura’s chief of automotive safety.

Advertising Campaign Puts People First

A new Acura advertising campaign that promotes safety is taking a different approach than other companies. While others show crash tests, the Acura campaign shows how car crashes affect real families and how tragedy can be avoided with a few new safety features. Acura classifies its safety features into two categories, “Active” and “Passive.” Active features include suspension and handling, anti-lock brakes and the Collision Mitigation Braking System, which warns of a possible impact and begins braking automatically. An automatic front seat belt tensioner makes sure you are secure in the event of a crash, while a vehicle stability system helps you keep control in all types of road conditions. Passive safety features include the body construction, which helps absorb crash energy and diffuse it to places other than the passenger cabin. Multiple air bags are positioned for the maximum effect, keeping injuries to a minimum in the event of a crash.

Galpin Auto Sports 2016 Acura ILX & Ludacris Legend

Old or New, Acura Had Something for All

Whether it was the restored 1993 Legend sedan owned by singer/actor Chris “Ludacris” Bridges or a modified 2016 ILX, the Acura brand offered a little something for everyone who visited the automaker’s booth at the latest SEMA auto show in Las Vegas. The Ludacris Legend underwent a complete ground-up restoration for the show under the watchful eye of Acura’s Design Studio. “Besides being a really cool project for our team, this is a great way to express Acura’s passion for performance,” said Dave Marek, Acura’s creative director. “Acura has incredibly loyal customers and this has been a unique opportunity to celebrate their passion and affinity for Acura, and that same love for the brand that Ludacris has showed over the past dozen years.” See why drivers keep coming back for more by taking a visit to your Tucson Acura dealer, Chapman Acura.

Ludacris Legend Featured on Ninth Album

The restored Legend is featured on the artist’s ninth album cover. Along with bringing it back to showroom quality inside and out, the design team added 18-inch Rays rims plus upgraded brakes. A Cashmere and Pearl paint scheme added new luster to the outside, while a upgraded sound system added both symphonic quality and the ability to use Apple CarPlay for hands free communication and limited apps. The car was also lowered and additional suspension work was completed before handing it over to the Ludacris Foundation to award to one lucky recipient. “Seeing the car that has been such a big part of my life brought back to beyond its original condition was a real gift,” Bridges said. “The Legend is back and better than ever and I have my friends at Acura to thank for that.”

Galpin Auto Sports Modifies Sporty Sedan

The Galpin ILX starts with the company’s entry-level sedan and adds some major body work, including a front splitter and rear diffuser and spoiler. Fog lights and a custom exhaust kit add to the amenities, as do 19-inch wheels and a custom paint job that combines Sunburst Yellow and Shark Gray trim. The color scheme is mimicked in the interior with Barracuda leather inserts and gold contrast stitching. The ILX powertrain is the standard Acura 2.4-liter direct injection i-VTEC engine with an 8-speed dual clutch transmission. That combination delivers 200 horsepower for the little sedan, which is plenty of get up and go for most applications. Take a production model ILX for a test drive by visiting Chapman Acura in Tucson.

ILX With Accessories Also on Display

One of the reason for showing cars at the SEMA gathering is to promote aftermarket products. Acura had a factory ILX on display with genuine accessories that set it apart from the standard production model. Along with front, rear and side spoilers, the demo car also had a decklid spoiler, remote engine starter, LED fog lights and illuminated door sill trim. When you head over to your Tucson Acura dealer, make sure and stop by the aftermarket desk and see what goodies they have to help you personalize your new vehicle.
