2016-Acura-RLX-Sport-Hybrid-rear-view

With its complex all-wheel drive system, the 2016 Acura RLX Sport Hybrid already boasts a significant amount of tech, but for the new model year, more is in stock.

Consisting of part of its mild refresh for the flagship sedan, Honda’s luxury division is packing the 2016 RLX Sport Hybrid with the AcuraWatch bundle of electronic safety features already available on other models. This vehicle may not be able to drive itself, but it comes pretty close.

AcuraWatch delivers features that are practically obligatory on modern luxury cars, such things as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and a rearview camera.

In addition, the RLX is equipped with Acura’s Road Departure Mitigation system. It utilizes a camera mounted on the windshield in order to monitor lane markings, and can interject if necessary should it determine that the driver is swaying from the right path.

The system has the power to steer your vehicle back onto the road, or use a combination of steering and braking if simply turning the wheel is determined insufficient. There’s also a driver alert via an audible warning and a “lane departure” warning on the display screen. It also vibrates the steering wheel in order to capture the driver’s attention.

Another installed safety feature is the Cross Traffic Monitor, which is similar to the rear cross-traffic alert systems available through other manufacturers. It uses radar sensors mounted in the rear quarter panels in order to detect cars crossing behind the vehicle.

When it detects a car, arrows indicating its direction of travel displays on the rearview camera, and triggers a kind of audible warning noise.

Finishing up the roster of safety equipment is a new “Surround View” camera system, which delivers a 360-degree view of the area around the car. It uses four cameras to look ahead, behind, and side to side, and can also combine the images into a composite bird’s eye view.

Besides the influx of safety tech, the RLX Sport Hybrid remains practically unchanged for 2016. It’s still powered by a hybrid powertrain consisting of a 3.5-liter V6 and three electric motors, sending a combined 377 horsepower and 341 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels using Acura’s torque-vectoring Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD).

All of this comes at a starting price tag of $60,870, including destination. That’s the same price as the previous model. Test drive an Acura RLX at Chapman Acura today!

With a well-built and designed car, one can have a higher chance of avoiding death and serious injuries. While true, one may not know what makes a car safe, and this is a mistake. When thinking about Acura, one probably realizes that it’s a company that makes safe cars, and here are a few popular safety features.

Road Departure Mitigation: If you are on the road for a long time, you may get tired. Other times, if you are distracted, you can easily run off the road in seconds. This happens to the best of us, and it’s hard to avoid if you drive for a long time. To ensure that you stay on the pavement, some Acura models come with Road Departure Mitigation. The system detects objects that are on the side of the road, and it helps you avoid them.  If you still don’t heed the advice, the car will issue a warning message and tighten your seat belt.  Finally, if all else fails, the Lane Keeping Assist System will help, along with the automated braking system, guide your vehicle back into its correct lane. You are in luck as Chapman Acura has plenty of Audis in stock, and you can see the safety features mentioned.

Seat belts and airbags: While both are standard on all new cars, you may not know that not all seat belts and air bag setups are equal.  If the impact is sufficient enough, tensioners react in the first milliseconds after it, and the front belts are automatically tightened. As far as airbags, in addition to two front airbags, owners will get side airbags and driver’s knee airbags.  To see the airbags and other features in any new Acura, head to a Tucson Acura area dealer.

Braking system:  If you are on the road, you know how hard it is to deal with traffic and other factors. With the right brakes, you can go a long way in protecting your family. Naturally, all Acura’s come with Anti-Lock Brakes. But, if you slam on the brakes, the Acura will detect this quickly to ensure that the ABS is automatically activated. This ensures that you can safely slow down.

Tire pressure monitoring: while it may not seem like a big deal, you must monitor your tire pressure. Acura’s come with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System that detects your tire inflation and lets you know if one or more tires is over or under inflated. Since this is accessible via your controls on your steering wheel, you won’t have any excuse not to know when your tires are low.  While this is a great feature, you should still check your tire pressure manually to ensure that there are no issues.

Body Structure Design: Finally, with the Acura design, you can feel at ease.  With advanced engineering, you will enjoy a stronger body structure that can help you walk away from a crash.  Since the outer braces are made to transfer the impact of an accident towards the middle of the frame, the energy will be distributed around the vehicle more evenly, keeping occupants safe.

If you want a safe and secure car, you should check out an Acura. You will be impressed as they are also fun to drive.

AcuraWatch Provides Drivers With Safety Assistance

AcuraWatch is the brand name of the suite of technology that helps drivers avoid or lessen the extent of collisions. The Collision Mitigation Braking System keeps an eye on the distance between you and the car in front, then takes action if necessary to avoid a crash. Road Departure Mitigation sounds an audible alarm if you should start to leave the highway. The same is true for the Lane Keeping Assist if you should start to wander between lanes. A dynamic rear view camera and Adaptive Cruise Control are other technologies that helped the ILX earn the top safety mark.

Structure Takes Over Where Technology Leaves Off

Along with all the sensors and cameras that make your new Acura safe to drive, the array of combined structural supports help to spread out the damage in the event of a crash. In the case of a frontal crash, this structure disperses the energy to the top and bottom of the vehicle, keeping the cockpit occupants in a much safer position. Most structural crash systems only disperse energy to the lower part of the vehicle.

ILX Also Gets Major Facelift

With impressive styling changes for 2016, the Acura ILX continues to catch the attention of consumers. Sales are up 28 percent this year over last, showing that drivers appreciate the attention to safety, quality and luxury appointments.
